Dr Nasra Shah, Professor at GIDS presented at the International Conference on Population Growth titled “Opportunities and threats: Population growth and the way ahead” on December 2, 2021. The conference was organised by PRC, Forman Christian College. Dr Shah’s presentation was titled “International Labor Migration from Pakistan: A Safety Valve or a Slippery Slope”. She highlighted the aspects of concern including the declining trend in worker outflows and lack of skill improvement, but also drew attention towards the positive aspects in terms of rising remittances through formal channels. She concluded that the future will be determined by a combination of economic and non-economic factors.
